From 13 July till 9 September, the exhibition of Silvija Meškone’s paintings “I’m looking at the sun” can be viewed in the exhibition hall of Pedvāle International Artists’ Residency. This is also the title of one of the paintings on display in Pedvāle, and the whole exhibition is also united by the mood of light, warmth, summer glow and brightness. Silvija Meškone says about her paintings that she paints light and that the sun, its heat, the way colours glow in sunlight are very important to her. And indeed, she is able to paint the sun – both how the sun illuminates the landscape, the heat energy of the sun, and the sun itself.
Silvija Meškone and Pedvāle have a long friendship – she has participated in painting plein-airs in Pedvāle as far back as the 90s of the 20th century. There are several of her works in the Pedvāle Park art collection. The exhibition “I’m looking at the sun” and a meeting with the artist at the height of summer is a long-awaited event in Pedvāle.
