On the day of Lacplesis, 11 November 2019, the art campaign “The Ring of Sabile”, which was dedicated to Latvian soldiers, the defenders of Sabile, who fought heroically with Bermont’s troops in 1919, ended.
At Pedvale Art Park, during a theatrical performance the environmental art object “The Ring of Sabile” by Ojārs Feldbergs was unveiled.
The environmental art object is made of granite boulders, which are arranged in a circular composition. The stone at its centre symbolizes the town of Sabile, the fatherland, freedom, Latvia. There are 16 stones – soldiers placed around it as in a ring. Three of these stones are polished, symbolically marking the three soldiers fallen in the battle.
