An exhibition of granite sculptures by contemporary Latvian sculptors can be seen in Pedvāle Art Park from October 5. It is exhibited in the open air, in the meadows of Pedvāle Art Park.
Eight large-scale granite sculptures are placed in interaction with the works of art in the permanent exhibition. The sculptures of sculptors Indulis Ranka, Jānis Karlovs, Ojārs Feldbergs, Pauls Jaunzems, Igors Dobičins, Gvido Buls, Juris Švalbe and Kristaps Andersons have been created at different times, they have different themes, shapes and are created with different stone processing techniques. The exhibition has been set up with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
In Latvian sculpture, stone sculpture has a long tradition, which is important to maintain and develop. One of the main tasks of Pedvāle Art Park is to promote the development of stone sculpture. With this exposition, a long-term programme of stone sculpture begins.
