Let’s celebrate summer solstice

During the summer solstice, when the entire nature is at full maturity, creative energy concentrates also at the Pedvāle Museum. On 21 June, all day long, both large-format printwork creation and cast iron sculpture pouring are planned. During the event Latvian tradition will intertwine with Scottish culture, as well as with the rhythm and mood created by the various mechanisms and electronic music.




June 21

From 1:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m.


  • Performance by Ojārs Feldbergs “Latvian Stone Seed for Scotland; kindling of the bonfire with a ritual. Musical accompaniment by the folk group “Milzkalnieki”.
  • Carrying of the fire and kindling of the cast iron melting furnace. Musical accompaniment by the folk group “Milzkalnieki”.
  • Printing of a large-format printwork with an asphalt roller. Participating artists: Benjamin Billingsley (USA), Peeter Allik (Estonia), Simona Bogdanaite (Lithuania), Paulis Liepa (Latvia), Laura Feldberga (Latvia). Musical accompaniment by DJ Mr. Ikazz.
  • Cast iron sculpture pouring. The artist: George Beasley (Scotland / USA). Musical accompaniment: Matutis Vilius (Lithuania / Latvia) and the musical project Mallemuck.
  • The finished printwork exhibition.
  • Opening of the poured cast iron sculpture mould.
